The List

- Almond butter is gross and disgusting.

- Leaves change color because of the reduction of sunlight not a change in the temperature. It's still Summer here - warm and humid but the leaves are starting to color up.

- Evening news: Video of a disabled person being dragged out of a Senate hearing, Voice over: "Disabled protesters were literally dragged out of the hearing room" Yes, yes they were - actually - dragged out. Literally.

But then there is this: Usage note (from dictionary.com)
Since the early 19th century, literally has been widely used as an intensifier meaning “in effect, virtually,” a sense that contradicts the earlier meaning “actually, without exaggeration”: The senator was literally buried alive in the Iowa primaries. The parties were literally trading horses in an effort to reach a compromise. The use is often criticized;nevertheless, it appears in all but the most carefully edited writing.Although this use of literally irritates some, it probably neither distorts nor enhances the intended meaning of the sentences in which it occurs. The same might often be said of the use of literally in its earlier sense“actually”: The garrison was literally wiped out: no one survived.
- I took a bunch of photos of BB yesterday - one came out spectacularly. The problem? I have no idea what the camera settings were - the photos were taken in succession with setting changes for almost each one - only the one came out well, the others were trashed. I hate when that happens.

- A friend noticed that my blog postings seemed sad. I said, "Not sad. Deeply depressed"  Depressed is a normal state of being for me, deeply depressed on the other hand comes and goes. Silent tearfulness occurs at odd moments frequently throughout the days (and nights). No, I can't talk about it. No, I don't want to talk about it. A lifetime of bad decisions weighs heavily sometimes.
