Eh - It's Friday

I'm feeling a little whiny again. Without the car we can't get to the library very easily, which is not such a big deal for me because I have been borrowing e-books from the library for several years now. I just went looking for a particular book, the library has 8 e-copies and I am 71st on the waitlist. (There are 90 people on the waitlist for the 26 hard copies of the book!) So who knows, maybe in a year or two I'll get to read it.

I'm having dental surgery this afternoon. A procedure that should have been done 60 years ago when I was a kid. But my father didn't want to spend the money and when the dentist suggested a dental clinic that idea was nixed because neither my father nor my mother wanted to take off a day from work to take me to the clinic.

Once this surgery gets done then making dentures that don't hurt will be easier. My dentist is not well-pleased with the dentures I have and he is starting over from scratch.

I expect I will be back eating soft gummy food for a few weeks while my mouth heals from the surgery but I look at that as an opportunity to drop a bunch more pounds. I've gained 2 pounds in the last 3 weeks since I've been eating 'real' food. That has to stop. I do so like being less heavy. And I want to get even more less heavy.

I get cash back from my credit card and a nice chunk of change has accumulated so I am treating myself to a new lens for my camera. The new lens will let me zoom a lot more than my current lens. I need zoom since I take so many pics from my apartment. My little point-and-shoot has a very zoomy zoom function but the photos aren't all that great. This morning I missed a great shot of a bluejay that attacked the window. Miss Frankie went bat-shit, I grabbed the DSLR camera and got practically nothing; quick grabbed the little camera and it malfunctioned. So - new lens for me. Practically free, sorta kinda after I apply my cash reward amount to my bill.

The cats are making me crazy because they have decided, in their old age, to turn up their whiskers at food they have been eating for years. No chicken, they won't eat chicken. I have 48 cans of chicken cat food in the closet. It has to be salmon. I have 36 cans of salmon pate but they won't eat that anymore because they prefer a different salmon pate I bought in an attempt to tempt Miss Frankie to eat more wet food rather than that damn kibble.  I would take all the food they won't eat to the local shelter but - no car, shelter not easily reachable by bus - this no car thing can be a PITA.

Oh my word, I know, I know, you are all sitting there thinking "Hey, Grace, would you like a little cheese with that whine?"
